History of Danville

The city of Danville, Arkansas is located in the west central part of the state of Arkansas where the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains collide. This unique setting also captures a town that was originated in the 1800’s on the banks of the Petit Jean River.

The geography adjoining Danville features some of the most breath-taking views that the state of Arkansas has to offer. Surrounded by the Tri-Peaks Mountain ranges of Magazine, Nebo, and Petit Jean, along with the three nearby lakes and various rivers and streams, Danville becomes your gateway to all types of outdoor sports and adventure.

Danville features immediate access to several hiking ranges in the area including the Danville Mountain Trail that starts inside our city park at the base of Danville Mountain. Also, take the time to trek the banks and flats of Melchor Creek as many undiscolosed minerals and treasures await your arrival. If adventure is more your nature, explore the banks of the Petit Jean River, in search of the Petit Jean River Monster.
